Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons (OMFS) specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases, injuries and defects affecting the mouth, jaws, face, neck and associated structures. Their education include requisite of college degree, dental degree and a four or six-year residency training. OMFS treat facial trauma, impacted teeth, cysts and tumours of the jaws, skin and mucosal disease; selective facial plastic surgery, reconstructive surgery, preprosthetic surgery and dental implant surgery; and treat developmental craniofacial abnormalities of the jaws or facial regions, corrective jaw surgery, facial pain, temporomandibular joint disorders, head and neck cancers, salivary gland diseases.Some practitioners will also obtain fellowship training after residency in the fields of Cosmetic facial surgery, Oral/Head and Neck Oncology and Pediatric Craniomaxillofacial Surgery.
Facial Trauma
Injuries to the face, by their very nature, impart a high degree of emotional and physical trauma to the patients. The science and art of treating these injuries require special training. This training involves not only experience, but also the understanding of how the treatments provided will influence the patients’ long-term function and appearance. Dr. Jing is trained at Level 1 Trauma Center and is uniquely qualified to manage and treat facial trauma. He performs many in-office procedures and is on-staff at the Naval Hospital Yokosuka where he delivers emergency treatment for facial injuries, which include the following conditions: facial lacerations, intraoral lacerations, fractured facial bones (cheek, nose, and eye sockets) and fractured jaws.
Periapical Abscess
Treatment options would include root canal and extraction to remove the source of the infection. Antibiotic therapy and pain medications.
Intraoral Abscess
Most often involves extraction along with small incision intra orally. Antibiotic therapy through oral intake. Close follow up may involve hospitalization.
secondary Space Infections
Treatment would include extraction, incision and drainage intra and extra orally with drains and brief hospitalization.
Deep space infections
Secure definitive airway, extraction, incision and drainage intra and extraorally with drain placement and short stay in intensive care unit.

Orthognathic Surgery
Dentofacial deformity corrected through the combination of orthodontics (movement of the teeth) and jaw surgery (movement of the skeletal architecture). The complete treatment take two years on average.
Temporomandibular Joint Disorder
Pain, discomfort and functional deficit associated with your TMJ are treated by medical therapy, behavior modification, conservative procedures and intra-joint surgeries.
Benign Pathology
Cysts and benign tumor of the jaw which requires excision and reconstruction of the osseous, soft tissue along with dental rehabilitation.
