Consultation

The consultation appointment aims to identify your dental problem, evaluate the medical history and develop a plan to assess the problem catered specifically to your health limitation. During this time, the doctor will explain the cause of your dental issue and you are encouraged to ask questions to fully understand the reason for treatment.

1. Chief Complaint

This is the reason you are present for oral surgical evaluation. Be prepared to answer questions regarding the history of your dental problem, symptoms and previous treatments.

2. Review of medical history

The doctor will gather your past medical history, past surgical history, medications, allergies and social history to assist him to give you the most optimal treatment plan. Please be honest, this is confidential.

3. physical Exam

Intraoral exam consists for probing, palpation and visual inspection of wisdom teeth and adjacent tissue. For sedation evaluation will consist of limited multisystem exam ie ausculationof heart and lungs.

4. radiographic exam

A panoramic x-ray within the last 12 months will be utilized to identify the root morphology of the teeth, adjacent bone loss and proximity to vital structures. Often the doctor will point out his findings with you.

5. assessment

Once all the information has been gathered and analyzed for your case. A problem list of dental and medical issues will be generated to be addressed in the treatment phase.

6. Treatment plan

The treatment will be presented to you, along with the rationale, benefits and risks associated. At this point all your questions will be answered.
